why i work at camp 2

to continue the previous post, apparently after the lady we prayed for left the kitchen, she went to one of her daughter’s friends who was asking lots of questions about God and what a relationship with Him was all about. In answering these little girl’s questions, the lady we had prayed with earlier in the day had the chance to lead this litle girl to the LORD and her own personal relationship with God. How sweet is that? that is truly why i work at camp!

why i work @ camp…

its the weekend here at ihc and that usually means one thing…lots of people! this weekend was no different as 200 plus people wandered around camp having a great time. we had birthday parties, ymca groups and even a few girl scout troops doing everything from crafts, paintball and zipline to archery, goldmine and playing on the playground. the camp was filled with laughter and joy as countless kids and their parents had a great time on the property. like most weekends, i had the chance to serve in the kitchen this weekend and what a joy it was! we cooked pancakes for breakfast, turkey sandwiches for lunch and calzones for dinner. it was a joy to work and serve in the kitchen this weekend. the biggest joy however came between lunch and dinner as we met someone who came into the dining hall looking for prayer! how often to you get someone searching you out to ask you to pray for them? not very often if you are me that’s for sure! what a blessing it was to pray for this person and encourage them in Jesus! that is why i work at camp!

stuff God’s been teaching me…

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.

This verse is found in Psalm 143:8 and has been on my mind a lot in the past month. There is something about waking up early in the morning before everyone else and hanging out with God and a good cup of coffee. When I spend that time with God, I am reminded of His unfailing love and encouraged to continue to place my trust in Him. As I continue to look into an overseas missions organization, its verses like this one that remind me where my focus should be and what will happen if I walk down the road of trusting God! May we all walk down the road of trusting God no matter where we are in life!
